Botox is a brand name given to the purified form of a neurotoxic protein called botulinum toxin that is produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. It is most popular antiageing procedure worldwide.
How does it work?
Basically it is a neurotoxin, when injected in controlled amount it causes decreases muscle power or partial paralysis of muscles. So wrinkles caused by these muscle during movement called as dynamic wrinkles are improved. Also it ultimately leads to formation of static wrinkles.
As toxin action is temporary, injection has to be repeated after certain time. It can last from 3 to 9 months depending on indication and individual muscle power.
Indications
It is commonly used to correct forehead creases, frown lines, bunny lines on nose, crows’ feet around eyes, eyebrow lift and jaw lift, depressed angle of mouth, facial wrinkles, and gummy and fading smile.
